About Us

South London glazing specialists you can trust, with a history going back to 1945. Mr Osborn founded the business as B Osborn & Company just after the Second World War, and David, our current owner, bought it in 1966. Family run ever since, we supply and fit windows, doors and bespoke glass for homeowners and the trade from our base in South Norwood. Over the decades, we’ve built a strong reputation across Croydon and the surrounding area for quality products, honest advice and reliable service.

What started as a small high street glass shop in South Norwood has grown into a full service glazing business. Alongside the bespoke glass and mirrors we began with, we now supply and fit windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries and glazed extensions. Our approach hasn’t changed: the same care on every job, now backed by CERTASS and TrustMark accreditation, for homeowners and trade customers across South London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Over the Years

1960s-1970s

Founded

Over the years, Osborn's has witnessed many glazing trends, including the rise of glass louvres in the 1970s. Homeowners frequently replaced the sliding sash elements of box sash windows with a large glass pane and small louvred fins in the top 400mm section. This design created a picture window while maintaining ventilation. Demand was so high that we could barely keep up, customers lined up down the street to get their hands on these stylish and functional windows!

1980s-1990s

Glass & Mirror

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Osborn secured a contract with Whitbread, the owner of the UK’s largest nightclub chain. With venues in every major city, demand for bevelled and coloured mirrors surged, becoming a staple of nightclub décor. To reflect our evolving expertise, we rebranded as Osborn Glass & Mirror Company, ensuring we remained at the forefront of industry trends.

2000s

Adapted

With the decline of nightclubs after the 1980s and 1990s, Osborn Glass & Windows once again adapted to industry shifts. As one of the few companies in London with in house glass processing machinery, including bevelling, polishing, drilling, and sandblasting, we became a go-to resource for local glaziers. At the same time, we expanded our reach, collaborating with architects, shopfitters, and interior designers to supply high quality glass solutions for hotels, restaurants, pubs, and gyms.

2009

Windows & Doors

In 2009, Osborn Glass expanded its services to include windows and doors, officially becoming Osborn Glass & Windows Ltd. With the rise of the internet, we recognised the importance of a strong online presence. To better connect with our customers, we launched domain names reflecting both our service areas and product offerings. Today, our websites are branded as southlondonglass and southlondonwindows, making it easier than ever for customers to find us.

Unfortunately for us, a significant portion of our work is completed under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), so unless the contractor agrees, we cannot share the work we do. However, we have worked in the Shard, Harrods, Corinthia Hotel, F1 Arcade, David Lloyds gyms, Pure Gyms and restaurants like Gaucho’s, to name a few.

Meet The Team

A small, tight knit team led by Steve and Danny, with most of our staff having been with Osborn's for well over a decade. Tony, our shop manager, recently celebrated 15 years with us. Our glass processors James and Mark joined straight from school, and our longest serving team member has been part of Osborn's for over 30 years.

I had a complex mirror repair on a wardrobe door that was chipped, and I was really worried about it. The mirror had a triangle shape with diagonal edges, and I needed it to perfectly match the other mirrors on the door. I had reached out to other companies, but most told me the job was either impossible or would cost more than the wardrobe itself.

Tony, the manager, was incredibly helpful on the phone, reassuring me that they could do the job and match the existing mirrors perfectly. He was very responsive to emails, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The guys who collected and delivered the door were not only professional but also super nice and kind. They even helped me mount the door back onto the wardrobe, which was a lovely touch.

The repair was flawless, and the new mirror matches the original ones perfectly. The whole experience was seamless, and I’m beyond happy with the result. How long has Osborn's been trading?

Osborn’s has been part of the glazing industry since 1996, making us one of South London’s longest-established companies in our field. What began as a modest high street glass shop in South Norwood has grown, over more than half a century, into a well respected business with two specialist departments, its own premises, and an in-house production facility.

That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of consistently delivering on what we promise: quality products, honest advice, and a reliable service to generation after generation of customers across Croydon and the surrounding area.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

We operate from our own premises at 33–34 High Street, South Norwood, SE25, in South London. Having our own site means we can stock materials, carry out production in-house, and welcome customers who want to discuss a project or view options face to face before committing to anything.

We cover Croydon, South Norwood, and the wider South London area, with both our glass and window installation teams operating across the surrounding boroughs and counties. Whether you’re a local homeowner or a contractor working across multiple sites, we’re straightforward to reach by phone, email, or in person.

Do you work with the trade as well as residential customers?

Yes, trade work has always been a significant part of what we do. Our existing customer base includes private homeowners, architects, interior designers, and building contractors, and we’re equally comfortable dealing with a one off domestic enquiry as we are managing ongoing trade accounts across multiple projects.

For trade customers, we offer competitive pricing, flexible supply arrangements, and the kind of reliable turnaround that contractors depend on. The relationships we’ve built with manufacturers over decades in the industry also mean we can access some of the best products available, which benefits trade and retail customers alike.

What in-house facilities do you have?

Our South Norwood premises are equipped with a full range of glass production machinery, including a bevelling machine, polishing machine, sandblasting machine, sanding and hole cutting facility, and a spray booth. That means the majority of our glass work is completed on site, giving us direct control over quality and turnaround times rather than relying on third party production.

We also offer a screen printing service and can apply bespoke art designs directly to glass or mirror panels. This opens up a wide range of possibilities for customers, so there is something for everyone.
