What are patio sliding doors?

Sliding patio doors are a popular choice for homeowners who want to bring a seamless connection between their home and garden. Because they slide rather than swing open, they work well even in tighter spaces. We supply uPVC, timber and aluminium patio sliding doors, made to measure and fitted by our experienced South London team. Every door comes with double glazing as standard, with triple glazing available for extra warmth and noise reduction that could save money on heating bills.

More Natural Light

The large glass panels in our sliding patio doors let natural light flood into your home, which could help make rooms feel bigger and brighter throughout the year.

Space Saving Design

Our sliding patio doors feature a smooth glide, which could ensure that you don't lose any useable floor space.

Secure and Strong

Every patio door we supply includes a multi point locking system with a three point deadbolt and anti snap, anti drill cylinder as standard. The toughened and reinforced glass could help bolster security further.

Easy to Look After

Unlike timber, uPVC and aluminium frames are less likely to need repainting. A wipe down every now and then is all it takes to keep them looking good.

Patio Sliding Door Options

Every range comes in its own choice of colours and finishes, from smooth whites and realistic woodgrain foils to powder-coated and heritage shades. Download the brochure below to see the full palette, or ask us to bring samples to your free survey.

With large panes of glass, the glass itself does much of the work of keeping your home secure. Choose toughened or laminated security glass.

Toughened Safety Glass

4–5× stronger than ordinary glass

Heat-treated to make it 4 to 5 times stronger than ordinary glass. If it does break, it crumbles into small, blunt-edged pieces rather than sharp shards.

Laminated Security Glass

Tested to EN 356

Pilkington Optilam™ bonds the panes with a tough PVB interlayer that holds the glass in place if it is broken, slowing down break-in attempts. It also absorbs UV, helping protect furnishings from fading.

FAQs

What is the difference between sliding patio doors and French doors?

The main difference is how they open. French doors open outward on hinges, while patio sliding doors slide along a track, with one panel overlapping the other.

Patio doors are a better choice if you want to save space, as they don’t need room to swing. French doors tend to suit more traditional style homes, while patio doors work well in both modern and period properties. If you’re not sure which is right for your home, get in touch, and we’ll help you decide.

Are patio sliding doors secure?

Yes. All the patio doors we supply come with toughened, reinforced glass, a multi-point locking system and a three point deadbolt lock as standard.

The cylinder is anti-bump, anti-drill, and anti snap designed to resist the most common break in methods. If you need a higher level of security, PAS 24 and Secured by Design specifications are also available which could help ward off intruders.

Can I get sliding patio doors in uPVC or aluminium?

Yes, we supply both. uPVC patio doors are the most popular choice for most homes. They’re cost-effective, easy to maintain, and available in a wide range of colours. Aluminium patio doors have slimmer frames, so they can support more glass for a modern look.

These designs and in a range of colours and finishes. Get in touch and we’ll help you choose the right design for your home and budget.

Are your sliding doors thermally efficient?

All our patio doors come with double glazing as standard, offering a multi chambered profile and U values of 1.2 W/m²K for year round comfort. The sliding patio doors are also available if you want extra warmth or noise reduction.

This could be useful if you live near a busy road. The frames are designed to minimise heat loss, and all our doors meet current building regulations for energy performance. As a result, this could help save on heating bills.

What guarantee comes with our sliding patio door installations?

Every patio door installation we carry out is covered by a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through QANW, protecting both the product and the workmanship.

As a CERTASS-registered installer, your installation will be fully compliant with building regulations, and you’ll receive a certificate on completion, which is useful to have on record and easy to pass on when you sell.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough. They are absolutely brilliant. We had a crack in our mirrored splashback and was original told by another company that it would be a really complicated and expensive job. Found Osborn glass and they quoted 4 times less and got the job done in less than an hour! Really great communciation and would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Osborn fitted our new front door a couple of years ago and we've been really pleased with it. But what's been even more impressive is their after sales service. Nick, the installation manager, has been brilliant with following up a minor teething problem we had and with other matters. We've recommended Osborn to friends and they've also had a similar experience to us. This is a company that in our experience does not just take the money and then leave you - they follow up and provide great customer service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was recommended to Osborne Glass by a friend and I was delighted with them . Importantly I am thrilled with the quality of their work which has transformed my kitchen. What set them apart though was the fantastic service from Tony and his team . As well as doing a superb job they were all just so great to deal with . They would be my first choice on similar projects in the future .

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough! I had a complex mirror repair on a wardrobe door that was chipped, and I was really worried about it. The mirror had a triangle shape with diagonal edges, and I needed it to perfectly match the other mirrors on the door. I had reached out to other companies, but most told me the job was either impossible or would cost more than the wardrobe itself.

Tony, the manager, was incredibly helpful on the phone, reassuring me that they could do the job and match the existing mirrors perfectly. He was very responsive to emails, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The guys who collected and delivered the door were not only professional but also super nice and kind. They even helped me mount the door back onto the wardrobe, which was a lovely touch.

The repair was flawless, and the new mirror matches the original ones perfectly. The whole experience was seamless, and I’m beyond happy with the result. The price was very reasonable for the high-quality work provided. If you need mirror repairs, these are the guys to go to! Professional, reliable, and truly skilled. Thank you, Tony and team!
