FAQs

What is the difference between an aluminium entrance door and a composite door?

Both are strong, secure, and low-maintenance options for a front door. The main difference is the frame and panel construction. Composite doors use a GRP outer skin over an insulated foam core, giving a woodgrain appearance that suits more traditional-style homes.

Aluminium entrance doors have a slim, powder-coated metal frame with a more architectural, contemporary look. Aluminium is stronger and allows larger glass panels and slimmer profiles. Both are available from us, so get in touch, and we’ll help you decide which suits your home and budget.

Can I have sidelights fitted with my aluminium front door?

Are aluminium entrance doors secure?

Yes. All the aluminium entrance doors we supply are PAS 24 tested, which is the British Standard for enhanced security doorsets. Every door comes with a high security multi-point locking system as standard.

For properties where a higher level of certification is required, Secured by Design accreditation, which is the official UK Police security initiative, is also available.

How energy efficient are aluminium entrance doors?

Our aluminium entrance doors are built for strong energy efficiency. All the systems we supply use thermally broken aluminium profiles and insulated door panels.

Smart Designer Doors, for example, achieve U-values as low as 0.9 W/m²K depending on configuration, which is well within current building regulation requirements. All doors we supply comply with current energy performance standards.

What guarantee comes with an aluminium entrance door installation?

Every entrance door installation we carry out is covered by a 10 year insurance backed guarantee through QANW, covering both the product and the workmanship.

As a CERTASS-registered installer, your installation will fully comply with building regulations, and you’ll receive a certificate on completion, which is useful to keep on record and easy to pass on when you sell.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough. They are absolutely brilliant. We had a crack in our mirrored splashback and was original told by another company that it would be a really complicated and expensive job. Found Osborn glass and they quoted 4 times less and got the job done in less than an hour! Really great communciation and would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Osborn fitted our new front door a couple of years ago and we've been really pleased with it. But what's been even more impressive is their after sales service. Nick, the installation manager, has been brilliant with following up a minor teething problem we had and with other matters. We've recommended Osborn to friends and they've also had a similar experience to us. This is a company that in our experience does not just take the money and then leave you - they follow up and provide great customer service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was recommended to Osborne Glass by a friend and I was delighted with them . Importantly I am thrilled with the quality of their work which has transformed my kitchen. What set them apart though was the fantastic service from Tony and his team . As well as doing a superb job they were all just so great to deal with . They would be my first choice on similar projects in the future .

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough! I had a complex mirror repair on a wardrobe door that was chipped, and I was really worried about it. The mirror had a triangle shape with diagonal edges, and I needed it to perfectly match the other mirrors on the door. I had reached out to other companies, but most told me the job was either impossible or would cost more than the wardrobe itself.

Tony, the manager, was incredibly helpful on the phone, reassuring me that they could do the job and match the existing mirrors perfectly. He was very responsive to emails, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The guys who collected and delivered the door were not only professional but also super nice and kind. They even helped me mount the door back onto the wardrobe, which was a lovely touch.

The repair was flawless, and the new mirror matches the original ones perfectly. The whole experience was seamless, and I’m beyond happy with the result. The price was very reasonable for the high-quality work provided. If you need mirror repairs, these are the guys to go to! Professional, reliable, and truly skilled. Thank you, Tony and team!
