What is a Composite Door?
A composite door is built from multiple materials layered together. These include a tough GRP outer skin, a high density foam core for excellent insulation, and a reinforced frame with multi-point locking. The result is a door that looks great, keeps warmth in, and provides solid security with minimal upkeep. Our composite doors pair a reinforced, insulated core with multi-point locking and quality hardware, giving you a front door that stays secure, warm and easy to look after for years.
Multi-Point Locking
A multi-point locking system comes as standard on every composite door we fit. On our Apeer doors, the Yale mechanism engages two rollers, three hooks, two deadbolts and a latch, securing the door against the frame from top to bottom rather than at a single point.
Anti-Snap Security
Each door is fitted with a high-security anti-snap, anti-pick cylinder and meets PAS 24 enhanced security requirements. Hardened steel hinge bolts stop the door being forced or lifted off its hinges, and Secured by Design accreditation, the UK police initiative, is available when the door is ordered with laminated glass.
Reinforced Construction
Beneath a tough GRP outer skin sits a 70mm high-density polyurethane core with built-in steel and metal reinforcement, plus a vertical steel bar running the full height of the inside edge. The result is a rigid, wood-free door that resists bowing and comfortably exceeds industry-standard impact and cut-through tests.
Thermally Efficient
The insulated polyurethane core, double-rebated twin seals and triple-glazed panels keep draughts out and warmth in. Every composite door we supply achieves at least a B energy rating, and an A++ rated Apeer upgrade using Low-E glass is available if you want the highest thermal performance.
Hardware & Finishes
Complete your door with coordinated handles, knockers, letterplates, numerals and spyholes. Styles range from sleek contemporary bar handles to traditional ring, urn and lion’s head knockers, in finishes including chrome, satin silver, gold, bronze, black, antique black, pewter and stainless steel. All hardware carries the manufacturer’s warranty.
Low-Maintenance Finish
The GRP skin has a realistic woodgrain texture and a hard-wearing, automotive-grade paint finish that won’t warp, crack, peel or fade. There’s no sanding or repainting, just an occasional wipe with warm soapy water. Choose from 27 standard and premium colours, or match most RAL and BS shades.
