What is a Timber Door?

Timber remains the preferred choice for period homes, heritage properties, and homeowners who want a genuinely natural entrance. BEL’M timber doors are crafted from premium materials including Accoya®, Oak, and Red Cedar, each with its own natural grain pattern. Accoya® is a modified timber that resists swelling and shrinking far better than traditional wood, making it well suited to the British climate. With over 140 designs ranging from traditional cottage styles to contemporary glazed options, and a full choice of colours, glazing, and hardware, our timber doors blend classic craftsmanship with modern performance. Every door is made to measure and installed by our experienced South London team.

Natural Timber Beauty

Premium Accoya®, Oak, and Red Cedar timbers give every door a warm, authentic appearance. Natural grain patterns mean no two doors look exactly the same.

Excellent Thermal Performance

Our timber doors can achieve U-values from 0.76 W/m²K, which is better than many uPVC and aluminium alternatives, helping keep warmth in throughout the year.

A Secure Door

Timber doors are engineered for high resistance against forced entry attempts. The wider BEL'M range carries UKCA certification and is tested to recognised European security standards.

Built for the British Climate

Accoya® timber resists swelling, and shrinking far better than traditional wood, making it a long-lasting choice for external doors.

FAQs

What makes BEL'M timber doors different from standard wooden doors?

Standard timber doors are made from softwood or untreated hardwood, which can swell, shrink, or lose their shape over time. BEL’M timber doors use premium materials including Accoya®, which is a modified timber that is significantly more stable and durable than traditional wood.

Combined with modern insulation, weather sealing, and security engineering, our timber doors look like a classic external wooden door but perform to a much higher standard.

Are timber doors as secure as composite or aluminium doors?

Yes. Our timber doors are engineered to resist forced entry and manufactured to meet current UK performance requirements.

The wider range carries UKCA certification and has been independently tested to recognised European security standards. A well specified and correctly installed timber door is a secure choice for any home.

How energy efficient are timber doors?

Do timber doors need a lot of maintenance?

More than uPVC or aluminium, but less than most people expect, particularly with Accoya® timber. Accoya® resists swelling and shrinking, so the door holds its shape and finish much better than a traditional softwood door.

Periodic repainting or re staining is recommended to keep the finish in good condition and protect the timber from the elements.

What guarantee comes with a timber door installation?

Every timber door installation we carry out is covered by a 10-year insurance backed guarantee through QANW, covering both the product and the workmanship.

As a CERTASS-registered installer, your installation will be fully compliant with building regulations, and you’ll receive a certificate once the work has been completed. This is useful to have on record and easy to pass on when you sell.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough. They are absolutely brilliant. We had a crack in our mirrored splashback and was original told by another company that it would be a really complicated and expensive job. Found Osborn glass and they quoted 4 times less and got the job done in less than an hour! Really great communciation and would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Osborn fitted our new front door a couple of years ago and we've been really pleased with it. But what's been even more impressive is their after sales service. Nick, the installation manager, has been brilliant with following up a minor teething problem we had and with other matters. We've recommended Osborn to friends and they've also had a similar experience to us. This is a company that in our experience does not just take the money and then leave you - they follow up and provide great customer service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was recommended to Osborne Glass by a friend and I was delighted with them . Importantly I am thrilled with the quality of their work which has transformed my kitchen. What set them apart though was the fantastic service from Tony and his team . As well as doing a superb job they were all just so great to deal with . They would be my first choice on similar projects in the future .

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough! I had a complex mirror repair on a wardrobe door that was chipped, and I was really worried about it. The mirror had a triangle shape with diagonal edges, and I needed it to perfectly match the other mirrors on the door. I had reached out to other companies, but most told me the job was either impossible or would cost more than the wardrobe itself.

Tony, the manager, was incredibly helpful on the phone, reassuring me that they could do the job and match the existing mirrors perfectly. He was very responsive to emails, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The guys who collected and delivered the door were not only professional but also super nice and kind. They even helped me mount the door back onto the wardrobe, which was a lovely touch.

The repair was flawless, and the new mirror matches the original ones perfectly. The whole experience was seamless, and I’m beyond happy with the result. The price was very reasonable for the high-quality work provided. If you need mirror repairs, these are the guys to go to! Professional, reliable, and truly skilled. Thank you, Tony and team!
