What is a Timber Window?

Timber windows offer a warmth and character that no other material can replicate, making them the preferred choice for period homes, listed buildings, and conservation areas. We also offer the R9 windows from the Residence Collection, which deliver the same traditional look in a low-maintenance uPVC system, with over 23 heritage colours to choose from. Whether you need the real thing or a timber-effect alternative, we supply and install both across South London.

An Authentic Character

Natural wood offers a warmth and depth that no other material can replicate. It's a perfect choice for homeowners who are after an authentic character.

Ideal For Listed Buildings

If your property is listed or in a conservation area, genuine timber is often the only material that satisfies planning requirements. We'll help advise on what's right for your home before any work is agreed.

Timber Effect Option

The Residence Collection R9 replicates the look of traditional painted timber with authentic sightlines, flush sash profiles, and over 23 heritage colours to choose from.

Low Maintenance

R9 looks like timber but needs none of the upkeep. All it needs is a wipe down to help it look its best.

FAQs

What are the benefits of timber windows?

The natural grain, colour depth, and warmth of real wood give a period property something genuinely authentic. Timber can also be repaired and repainted rather than replaced. As a result, a well-maintained timber window can last a long time.

For listed buildings and certain conservation areas, it can be the only material that gets planning approval.

Are timber windows easy to look after?

Timber windows need repainting or restaining every few years to stay protected, and you should catch and treat any early signs of rot promptly.

If you want the look of timber without the upkeep, the Residence Collection R9 is worth considering. It replicates traditional timber in fine detail but only needs an occasional wipe down to keep it looking great.

How do I get a quote for timber windows?

Are timber windows suitable for conservation areas?

Yes. In many cases, they’re the preferred or required option. Conservation areas have specific guidelines about materials and style, making timber windows a suitable choice.

We also offer the R9 timber windows from the Residence Collection, which are accepted in many conservation areas as they replicate original timber. Let us know if your property is listed or in a conservation area when you get in touch, and we’ll advise you before any work is agreed.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough. They are absolutely brilliant. We had a crack in our mirrored splashback and was original told by another company that it would be a really complicated and expensive job. Found Osborn glass and they quoted 4 times less and got the job done in less than an hour! Really great communciation and would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Osborn fitted our new front door a couple of years ago and we've been really pleased with it. But what's been even more impressive is their after sales service. Nick, the installation manager, has been brilliant with following up a minor teething problem we had and with other matters. We've recommended Osborn to friends and they've also had a similar experience to us. This is a company that in our experience does not just take the money and then leave you - they follow up and provide great customer service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was recommended to Osborne Glass by a friend and I was delighted with them . Importantly I am thrilled with the quality of their work which has transformed my kitchen. What set them apart though was the fantastic service from Tony and his team . As well as doing a superb job they were all just so great to deal with . They would be my first choice on similar projects in the future .

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough! I had a complex mirror repair on a wardrobe door that was chipped, and I was really worried about it. The mirror had a triangle shape with diagonal edges, and I needed it to perfectly match the other mirrors on the door. I had reached out to other companies, but most told me the job was either impossible or would cost more than the wardrobe itself.

Tony, the manager, was incredibly helpful on the phone, reassuring me that they could do the job and match the existing mirrors perfectly. He was very responsive to emails, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The guys who collected and delivered the door were not only professional but also super nice and kind. They even helped me mount the door back onto the wardrobe, which was a lovely touch.

The repair was flawless, and the new mirror matches the original ones perfectly. The whole experience was seamless, and I’m beyond happy with the result. The price was very reasonable for the high-quality work provided. If you need mirror repairs, these are the guys to go to! Professional, reliable, and truly skilled. Thank you, Tony and team!
