Twelve Facets, One Uninterrupted View
At Osborn Glass & Windows, we love a challenge! When a local architect contacted us about a grand piano bay window project, we were intrigued, to say the least. Other glass and window companies declined this abnormal window job because it was deemed too challenging, but our team was up for the task!
The owners of this property were renovating the fourth floor, and with the help of an architect, an interior designer and Osborn, we helped transform this top floor living area into an entirely unique space. Each window facet was different and required a structural post to be coupled. Not only did each facet have an angle/ degree, but the bottom of the frames was shaped at an angle/ degree. In retrospect, the client’s requirements were quite simple. They wanted to replace the large existing bay windows with aluminium bay windows and increase the glass area as the view of London was spectacular. The challenge was the shape and the colour, as well as ensuring that it was structurally sound. So, how did we do it? Read on to find out!

Custom Glass Solutions
The interior designer of this renovation knew what she wanted to achieve, and the colour of the windows was part of that. We were asked to provide the windows in a paper and paint colour, not a Ral colour. We sent a sample to Smarts Aluminium, who analysed the paint and provided us with a code. From there, we had 25 kg of powder prepared for powder coating the window frames.
It was a challenge to survey this aperture and carry out the fittings, but our skilled installers, alongside the builders, ensured it went smoothly. Installing the bay and glazing took three days, and to flawlessly finish the project, we applied Ral coloured matched sealant. The team at Osborn and the property owners were absolutely thrilled with the result. It’s safe to say that we were, and always are, up for the task.
